Project overview

JCA have an exciting project underway for a new library and community centre, located on a greenfield site within a south-east Queensland emerging community. As a 5–6-star Greenstar building, JCA have utilised engineered timber (CLT- Cross-laminated timber) as the major structural construction element using timber for the primary structure – drastically reducing the carbon footprint of the building as well as construction time. The proposed library and community centre is conceived as a social hub incorporating multipurpose spaces for community use, creating a community focal point and a showcase for environmentally sustainable design. The large glass southern street façade and top floor terrace highlights the timber construction and the library and community activities, engaging the street in the internal spaces.
